This service is provided by our partner Solihull Independent Living and provides the residents of Solihull with safe, reliable and quality assistance with property maintenance services.

What service does Solihull Independent Living offer?

Solihull Independent Living is a not for profit organisation that offers people who are older, disabled  or on a low income an affordable way to repair, improve or adapt their home.  It is designed for residents whose personal circumstances make it impossible for them to deal with home repairs. It also aims to help people carry on living comfortably at home and stay independent rather than moving into residential care.  Additional details are available on the Solihull Independent Living Website.

Who is the service for?

To be able to use the service you must be over the age of 60 and receiving one of the following benefits;

  • Pension Credit (Not Savings Pension Credit alone)
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Council Tax Benefit (not sole occupancy)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Disability Living Allowance

If you are under 60 you may still use the service if you receive;

  • Disability Living Allowance or 
  • Employment Support Allowance.

You can contact our Handyperson service for help with a range of small household jobs such as; plumbing, quick electrical and carpentry jobs, changing light bulbs, putting up shelves, plumbing in a washing machine, clearing guttering. This is not an exhaustive list, just ask us if we can do it.

Our target is to finish the work within five working days of receiving your enquiry.

How much does the Handyperson service cost?

The Handyperson service costs £19.80 per hour and £9.90 for half hour. Any parts or materials needed will cost extra.

Gardening Service

Between the months of April and October we offer a gardening service for basic garden maintenance. The benefits include;

  • A quality service
  • All gardeners have been CRB checked and have Public Liability Insurance
  • 21 days to pay bills and a variety of payment options
  • All gardeners have a identification card
  • If necessary we can speak to the gardener for you about any problems you experience with the gardening service

How much does the Gardening service cost?

The gardening service costs £12.85 per hour for a minimum of one hour.
