Conditions of Use

Please book your computer session in advance. Bookings may be taken in person or by phone at the library you wish to use. Each resource will be available for a set period of time:
- CD-ROMS / E-mail: ½ Hour session
- Internet / Software: 1 Hour session
- Open Learning 1 - 2: Hour session
- Printing and saving of files should be completed in good time for you to vacate the terminal at the end of your booked period. We recommend that you save and print five minutes before your finishing time to allow you time to close down the systems you are using. When your allotted time is over you must leave your terminal unless it is not required by another person.
- To ensure a wide a range of usage as possible users may only have one booked session per day. If a workstation is unoccupied during any session, the next person in line may use the station for the remainder of that session. If a workstation is left unused for more than five minutes another person may use it. For any guidance please ask a member of staff.
- Please be considerate to other library users and do not make excessive noise. Normally no more than two people will be allowed to use a single library computer at any time.
- Each workstation uses a virus checker so you will be able to use your own disks in library workstations. Always save your documents on to a floppy disk as staff remove work saved to the computer's hard disk on a regular basis. Floppy disks can be purchased in the Library.
- The workstations may be used for educational, informational and recreational purposes only; however please note the Internet acceptable use policy which specifies what is classed as acceptable use.
- Do not make any changes to the configuration of software or delete any files from the computer.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any computer network or system.
- To reduce the risk of viruses infecting the computers use only software installed by the Library staff. If a virus-warning message is displayed on the computer please tell a member of staff.
- Library staff will attempt to assist you in the proper use of the workstations and the resources available, but not all staff members will be able to give complete assistance. Because both the Internet and software used rapidly change, the staff may not always be able to give the assistance required.
- Library staff will not be responsible for any mistakes or loss of work during your session on the computer or when saving work.
- Before printing from any resource please consult a member of staff.
If you make any deliberate changes to the configuration of the software, delete any files, install your own software, or damage the computer in any way you may be prevented from using the library and its computers.
