Library Events

Solihull Libraries are a hive of activity throughout the year. There are regular events such as Storytimes and Rhyme Time sessions for younger children as well as poetry and author events for adults.

Check below to find out what is happening at your local library or download the Summer Activities booklet from the attachments to the right of the screen.

You can book places for the activities in libraries two weeks in advance, please contact the individual library. Children under 8 must be
accompanied by an adult.

Balsall Common

  • Coffee Morning - Thursday 2nd September 10.30am - 12 noon. Includes a special presentation by Sue Newman about the Age   Concern "Linking People" project.  Everyone welcome to join us.
  • Readers Circle - Friday 3rd September 9.45am - 11.15am Everyone welcome.  The group will be discussing their own summer reading choices, and "Wolf Hall" by Hilary Mantel will be handed out for discussion in October.
  • Bounce and Rhyme  - Thursday 9th September 2.15pm - 2.45pm.  A friendly monthly get-together for the under 5's with songs and rhymes.
  • Storytime - every Monday 2.15pm - 2.45pm.  Stories for the under 5's all welcome.  Dates in September are 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th.
  • Space Hop - this year's Summer Reading Challenge finishes on Saturday 11th Spetember.

  • MYGUIDE - Friday 24th September.  Drop in between 9.45am and 11.30am and library staff will show you how to get on-line with a wide range of courses and an easy-to-use email system.

  • Central Library User Group - Did you know there was a User Group at Central Library?
    It is a friendly informal group that meets about three times per year. The group is keen to welcome younger members particularly those under 35. We discuss current issues such as the provision of library services for ethnic minorities and how best to raise public awareness of services available. Members can volunteer to help with events held in the library. These include stock sales and the annual children's Summer Reading Challenge.
