Petroleum licensing

Information about licensing to store petroleum.

You are required to obtain a licence and comply with the conditions attached to that licence to store petroleum.

Within the Borough of Solihull, West Midlands Fire Service is responsible for issuing licences and ensuring petroleum is stored safely. Details about how to obtain a licence to store and sell petroleum can be obtained by contacting their Hay Mills Fire Safety Centre on

The Licensee must ensure that all Petrol Storage Tanks, dipsticks, gauges, offset fills and vapour recovery pipes are clearly labelled.
