Licensing - safety certificates at sports grounds

Information about safety certificates at sports grounds.

A Safety Certificate issued under Part III of the Fire Safety & Safety of Places of Sports Act 1987, is required from the local authority, in respect of the use of a sports ground, which is not a designated sports ground, under the Safety of Sports Ground Act 1975, of each stand that provides covered accommodation for 500 or more spectators, to view activities at the ground.

Before the issue of any Safety Certificate takes place, the local authority will advertise any application made and invite comments from local residents and potential spectators. Observations will also be invited from the Fire, Police and Ambulance Service.
