Winter Fuel Payments
Most households with a resident of 60 or over are entitled to a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’, money from the government to help households pay their fuel bills. More information is available from the Pension Service.
Warm Front scheme
You may qualify for a government funded grant through the Warm Front scheme if you receive an income-related or disability-related benefit and you:
- Have children under 16;
- Are 60 or over;
- Are disabled;
- Have a long term illness or;
- Are pregnant and have been given a MAT B1 certificate
This government-funded grant offers energy-efficiency improvements such as loft and cavity wall insulation, draught-proofing, heating repairs and replacements, and installing central heating systems up to a maximum grant value of £2,700. However, to be eligible for a Warm Front grant, you do need to own your home or rent it from a private landlord
