Saturday Music Centre

Solihull Music Service is committed to working in partnership with schools and pupils to assist them in all forms of music making. It also enriches the lives of pupils and the community through the provision of a wide range of music making opportunities.

The Music Service Inspection………………

News to celebrate……….

The Music Service has recently undergone a process of inspection and appraisal by its Music Service Evaluation Partner. This part of the national programme of review was undertaken by Malcolm Pollock of Gloucestershire Music Service, and it has left the Music service and the authority with much to celebrate.

Soul Matters

Where every child's music matters

Following three days rigorous observation of the music service work and interviews with stakeholders, the overall grade awarded is that the music service is good with outstanding features, (those include its Rock and Pop work, the Dunfield residential courses and the work the music service is achieving with the Arts Award) and we are pleased that this accurately reflects the excellent quality of our work in the Borough.

The report highlighted that the music service is very well regarded by all its stakeholders, and that it provides good to outstanding support for all its pupils. It also noted that its process of consultation with all in the authority is good, and that inclusion is at the very heart of its thinking. The music service commitment to ensuring the welfare and wider development of all its pupils and staff is significant and it was noted that the team shows a very real commitment to developing each musician as a rounded individual.

The final summary noted that it is an innovative service with several outstanding features, and that it’s not afraid to take new initiatives for the benefit of its pupils.

In all, the robust challenge and final endorsement for all of its work is something that we should truly celebrate, in the hope that it may long allow the music service to continue to make a big difference for pupils in the Borough.
