Delievering the Arts Award
Teachers from the Solihull Music Service have been trained to deliver the Arts Award. The award allows students to get a qualification for their involvement in the Arts.
The Arts Award supports young people to develop as artists and arts leaders and is available throughout England. The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification at three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Any pupil that rehearses with one of Solihull Music Service ensembles would eligible to take part in either the bronze or silver award and gain a formal accreditation.
The Arts Award also links to the new national curriculum being launched in September 2008, opportunities for music:
- Developing individual performance skills- vocally, instrumentally and with technology.
- Listening and aural perception skills
- Songwriting, arranging and improvising
- Work with a range of musicians
- Watching live performance
- Different roles and responsibilities - leadership skills
- Links between music and other subjects/areas of the curriculum
As a music service we can deliver the Arts Award on behalf of a school, which will help the school gain value added as well as being of enormous benefit to the student taking part.
