Ensemble training in schools

The Music Service can provide specialist experienced teachers to lead or support school ensembles. These might include orchestras, bands, choirs, chamber groups, rock/pop groups, percussion groups. Ensemble training can take place during or after the school day.

The ensemble can be for an individual school or a cluster based activity where the skills of many children can be combined to give a more balanced ensemble.

Playing in an ensemble is an important part of musical development and a wonderful experience for pupils. Ensembles provide opportunities for pupils to have access to a wider range of repertoire, learn new performing and technical skills on their instrument and allow them to use their instrument in a different context. Playing in a n ensemble also supports social development and increases confidence and self esteem.

The Music Service also offers advice an repertoire, as well as the expertise in arranging or composing music for schools and cluster ensembles.

The Music Service may be able to provide sessional pianists to play for assemblies, rehearsal and performances.
