Are we meeting your childcare needs?
From nscott on 31 December 2007
Solihull Council has recently carried out a consultation amongst parents and carers in the Borough to find out whether they are getting the childcare they need and to identify problems they may have with services that are currently available.
The consultation - which is designed to help us to meet childcare needs in the future - has identified some issues and we are now asking parents and carers to feed back to us to check that we’ve got it right and whether there are other issues that need to be addressed.
People can check out the findings of the consultation by visiting our website www.solihull.gov.uk/consultation/childcare.htm or can email any views to childrensinfo@solihull.gov.uk or call 0800 389 8667

Notes to Editors
Some of the main issues to come out of the ‘Meeting your Childcare Needs’ consultation are as follows:
- Parents of disabled children have identified many challenges accessing appropriate childcare to meet there needs
- Holiday provision is patchy in certain areas
- Out of hours not available in some areas
- Many parents do not realise they are entitled to12.5 hours of free childcare for 3-4-year-olds
