Cleaning up on Barn Lane
From Press Office on Thursday, July 24, 2008
Youths from Solihull will be out in force next week armed with paintbrushes and enthusiasm to clear mess caused by vandals.
On the 29th and 30th July around 40 young people from the Renewal Centre, Lode Lane, will be working with Council officers to paint over unsightly graffiti that has been dubbed over fences on Barn Lane, Olton.
The group of youths, aged 12-17, approached Solihull Council in search of volunteer work and jumped at the chance to help out with the project.
Working in partnership with the Renewal Centre and West Midlands Police, the Council is carrying out the initiative to improve the quality of open space on Barn Lane for the local community.
The young people taking part in the clean up will also be able to take part in sports activities throughout the day and enjoy refreshments courtesy of Morrisons.
West Midlands Police new Mobile Station will also be there to offer the group a place to sit down and relax.
