Parents fined for child missing school

A mum and dad have been fined for not ensuring their 15-year-old daughter attended school.
Solihull Magistrates heard how, between 7 April and 11 June this year, the girl attended just 29 out of a possible 76 sessions, with 45 unauthorised absences and two authorised.
At the hearing, which took place on 24 July, both parents were found guilty in their absence. They were fined £200 each. The mother was also ordered to pay costs of £41.24 and a victim surcharge of £15, while the father was ordered to pay £41.23 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
