Mother sentenced for son's school absences

A mother pleaded guilty on 5th August for failing to send her 13-year-old son to school.
Solihull Magistrates heard how between 29th October 2007 and 20th February 2008, the pupil attended just 13 sessions out of a possible 132, none of the 119 absences were authorised.
The mother was given an eight week Custodial Sentence which has been suspended for 12 months. She was also ordered to pay court costs of £200.
