Solihull Council gives thanks to foster carers

From Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Young People, Councillor Ken Meeson on 11 September 2008

Foster carers from around the borough who have dedicated many years to fostering children will be awarded for their hard work later this month.

Around a 100 people, including foster carers and others linked to childcare services in Solihull, are set to fill Arden Hall on the 24th September for the Annual Fostering Presentation.

The awards event, which was launched four years ago, is a way to thank carers for the dedication and commitment they show to children in their care.

Foster carers will be presented with awards on the day, some of them have been looking after young ones for 30 years. There will also be a presentation for new carers where they’ll be given certificates to welcome them into fostering.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor David Bell, will be among Councillors and staff from the Council to present the awards.

Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Young People, Councillor Ken Meeson said: “Being a foster carer can make a real difference to the lives of children and young people and provide the care and support they need as they grow up. We are grateful for all the wonderful people in Solihull who are prepared to share their homes and take on this vital role. This event is a way for us to recognise and thank them for their dedication.”
