Building projects given a boost
From Press Office on 16 September 2008
Solihull Council is encouraging people to come forward to see if their building project could be given a big boost.
The Council offers support to people embarking on building projects and wants to hear from those working on projects in rural areas of the borough, as they could be eligible for funding of up to £62,500.
The Redundant Building Scheme is part of a regeneration programme funded by Advantage West Midlands. It was launched last autumn and helps fund projects that convert or refurbish redundant buildings in rural areas, so the premises can be used for business purposes.
So far, two projects in Solihull have been approved for funding through the scheme, including a Farm Shop at Berryfields Farm in Meriden and workshop units at Patrick Farm, Hampton-in-Arden.
Funding is available to projects that transform redundant buildings to provide business facilities for:
0 Manufacturing
0 Tourism
0 Craft and business services
0 Office premises
0 Retail outlets
Anyone with a redundant building in a rural area they consider suitable for refurbishment or conversion for business use, can contact the Council on 0121 704 6151 to see if they could be eligible for support.
