Budding artists
From Councillor Ken Meeson, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People on 02 July 2009
Some of the borough’s best young artists have been hard at work for the opportunity to represent Solihull in the regional Heart of England in Bloom art competition.
Each year, the entire community is encouraged to get involved in the Solihull in Bloom competition which will see the borough judged on its standards of cleanliness, landscaping, horticulture and community involvement – it’s not just about flowers as people may think!
As part of the campaign, the Council ran a local art competition for school pupils across the borough where they were asked to draw to the theme of ‘My garden’ with the chance of representing the borough in the regional art competition.
Hundreds of entries were received which have been whittled down to just seven winning designs.
The winners will be presented with prizes - which have been supplied courtesy of Nocutts, by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davis, at a special ceremony on the 6th July at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens. The beautiful period gardens were inspiration for the theme of the competition.
The winners will be revealed on Monday.
