The German Christmas Market comes to Solihull

From Press office on 24 November 2009

Solihull Council’s festive celebrations will have a unique and traditional feel this year as the Christmas German Market arrives in town for the first time. The festivities will begin on Saturday 28th November at 5.30pm with the switching on of the Christmas lights. The festivities will include live music, elf stilt walkers, festive face painters, merry balloon modelers, jugglers and much more.

Mell Square will be transformed into a festive winter wonderland, creating a new and unique Christmas experience for Solihull’s shoppers. The market will offer a number of traditionally decorated stalls selling a variety of German Christmas gifts such as wooden toys, candles and decorations. You also can go along to one of the various refreshment stalls which will offer an assortment of foods and drinks such as Crepes, Waffles, German sausages and German beers. A traditional German Christmas would of course not be complete without a warming glass of Glühwein- that’s mulled wine to you and me.

The Christmas German Market opening hours are; Sunday – Thursday 10am -7pm
and Friday-Saturday 10am-8pm. The final day of trading will be Wednesday 23rd December.
