Christmas charity surprise

From Press office on 24 November 2009

Solihull’s was full of festive fun on Wednesday evening with the 3rd Christmas Charity Surprise.  The event was organised by Solihull Soroptimists, Solihull Rotary Club, Solihull House of Fraser and Solihull Mayor’s Office, and was sponsored by Colliers of Acocks Green.

Nearly 400 Guests welcomed the Christmas season with wine, canapés and entertainment.  The evening included the opportunity to learn how to decorate your Christmas tree or professionally wrap your presents, and the chance to win some great raffle prizes.

Shirley’s Hi Bri’s Dance School wowed audiences with a variety of up-beat and energetic dances before a fantastic fashion show.  The whole evening was compered by Joanne Malin and Phil Upton of BBC Radio WM.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to this great evening and helped raised an impressive amount of money for charity.”

The event raised £7000 for St. Basil’s Homeless, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Young Enterprise, Edwards Trust and Solihull Mayoral Charities.
