Get Back to Nature in Half Term

From Press Office on 01 February 2010

This half term Solihull Council will be hosting a number of free activities around the borough’s parks, perfect for any children who love playing outside and getting back to nature.

On Monday 15 February, 11am-1pm, at Elmdon Park there will be a winter treasure trail, involving a hunt around the park for clues to solve a mystery password.

For those that love our feathered friends, the week includes an opportunity to make a bird feeder or bird box.  On Tuesday 16 February, 11am-12.30pm, at Bentley Heath Park, children are invited to join the Park Rangers to make bird feeders.  Then on Thursday 18 February, 11.30am-1.30pm, at Knowle Park families are welcome to come and make a bird box.  Participants can either take home the bird box for £3.50 or leave it with the Rangers to put up in the park.

On Wednesday 17 February, 12-3pm, at Olton Jubilee Park there will be an activity extravaganza for children of all ages.  This event celebrates the redevelopment and improvement of 10 play spaces over the last year.  The day will offer a range of play and sports activities, including making use of the new BMX track and 5-a-side pitch.

There are limited places available to build a nestbox so please book early on 0121 704 8000.  For all other events no booking is required.
