Tree donated to Elmdon Park
From Press Office on 09 February 2010
A generous Solihull resident has donated an oak tree to Elmdon Park following a fire in the park last year.
Three trees were removed from the park after being set alight by vandals in June. Mr Gordon Kiteley from Knowle contacted Solihull Council offering a sapling to replace one of the destroyed trees after reading about the incident in the local paper.
Members of Elmdon Park Support Group and Solihull Council’s Park Rangers joined Mr Kiteley on Tuesday the 2 February to plant the 7ft sapling in the park.
Stan Watkins, Chairman of Elmdon Park Support Group, said: “I would like to thank Mr Kiteley for his generosity and for taking the trouble to come and help enhance our park.”
Gordon Kiteley said: “It gives me great pleasure to present this to Elmdon Park Support Group and I only hope that it will mature into a mighty oak tree for future generations to enjoy.”
