Vote of confidence for Solihull Shopmobility
From Press office on 22 February 2010
The latest survey of people using Solihull’s Shopmobility service has came back with a set of very positive results.
Hundreds of customers responded to the survey and made a particular point of saying how much they love the service, its friendly staff, top class equipment and convenient facilities.
Joyce from Hall Green said: “The staff do a wonderful job and are very pleasant and cheerful."
Kathleen from Shirley said: “The new scooters are fantastic to drive. I could not walk around Solihull, or even from the bus stop. I feel more independent than when using a wheelchair!”
John from Knowle said: “The service is superb."
Some customers did raise the issue of changing Shopmobility's opening hours, which is something the management team is now looking into.
The customers were also asked to say how often they came into Solihull town centre and how much they spent on every visit. The results show that people with mobility problems are still coming in to shop as much as last year, despite the difficult financial climate. On average, Shopmobility customers are spending £43 every time they come in, which adds up to nearly £500,000 a year.
David Williams, Shopmobility manager, said: “I’m really proud of all the staff and volunteers who work at our two shops. We want to make sure that people with mobility problems have the same right to shop as everybody else.”
