Come and help create a Langley Hall Park wonderland!
From Press office on 25 February 2010
Solihull Council is sounding a call to green-fingered residents to come and help plant a community woodland in Langley Hall Park.
Volunteers are needed to help extend the current small woodland in the park on Sunday 7 March from 10am onwards, until all the trees have been planted.
The park’s existing woodland is of historical significance as it is on the site of an old mill. There are also now bluebells and wood anemones growing under its oak and alder trees, so the volunteers will plant trees and shrubs to not only complement this, but also to encourage birds and butterflies to come to the woodland.
The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies, will also be visiting the group during the morning.
The Council will supply all the necessary tools for doing the work, residents are simply asked to wrap up warm and wear boots or wellingtons. For more information contact Gary Farmer on 0121 704 6537 or email gfarmer@solihull.gov.uk, or just turn up on the day.
