Rangers to the Rescue
From Press office on 08 March 2010
Solihull Council Park Rangers came to the rescue of three ferrets which had been abandoned in Meriden Park, Chelmsley Wood.
The unwanted ferrets were found running free in the park on Tuesday afternoon, 2 March by an Enterprise contractor while litter picking. Although undernourished, the creatures were happy to be handled and to be caught by the Park Rangers.
They have now been taken to Heronfields Rescue Centre, Knowle, where they will be nursed back to health and hopefully new homes found for them.
Robert Shyrane, one of the Park Rangers who found the ferrets said: “They were all very tame and friendly. One of them ran up to me and jumped straight into my hands when I bent down to pick him up.
“Why anyone would dump the animals is beyond me but their condition suggested they had not been cared for very well. At least now they are in a safe environment and hopefully soon will go to a loving home.”
