Residents urged to have their say on road safety proposals
From Cllr Ted Richards, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways on 09 March 2010
Solihull Council is asking local people for their views on proposals to improve road safety around Hatchford Brook Junior and Infant School.
Following a review of road safety in the area around the school, the Council is looking to introduce a 20mph speed limit on Old Lode Lane between its junctions with Valley Road and Tanhouse Farm Road.
The Council is also proposing to reduce traffic speeds along Old Lode Lane by introducing road humps and two new humped zebra crossings to provide people with safe places to cross.
The Council would like the views of local residents, parents and anyone else who uses the road to help them finalise the proposals.
A public exhibition is being held at Hatchford Brook Junior and Infant School on Thursday 18 March from 3pm – 8pm, where people can see the plans in more detail and Council officers will be on hand to answer any questions.
Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways, Councillor Ted Richards said: “We want everyone to be able to travel around our borough safely, and particularly around schools where we would like to encourage children to walk or cycle to school. I hope people will come along to our exhibition to see the proposals in more detail and give us their views.”
