Mother fined for child's non-school attendance

A mother has been found guilty of not ensuring her child regularly attends school.
The case was heard in the mother’s absence at Solihull Magistrates Court on 11 March.
The court heard that the six year old boy had 38 unauthorised and 11 authorised absences from his primary school between 3 September 2009 and 21 January 2010.
The mother has been ordered to pay a £350 fine, a £15 victim surcharge and costs of £100.
