Slowing things down on Lanchester Way

From Cllr Ted Richards, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways on 16 March 2010

Solihull Council is looking to make a road in Smith’s Wood a safer place for road users and pedestrians, by introducing traffic calming proposals.

Following a review of road safety on Lanchester Way,  the Council is looking to introduce a series of traffic calming features, including raised table tops at junctions and road humps to reduce traffic speeds on the road.

The Council is seeking the views of local residents and other users of the road to help them to finalise the proposals.

A public exhibition is to be held at Auckland Hall, Sunbeam Close on Tuesday 23rd March from 3pm to 8pm. Council Officers will be available to answer any questions local residents may have on the proposals.

Cllr Ted Richards, Cabinet member for Transport and Highways said: “High traffic speeds on residential roads can cause safety concerns and problems for local residents and road users including pedestrians. We want to ensure that traffic speeds are appropriate for the type of road and are in line with the 30mph speed limit in place, by providing improvements that will help to lower speeds and reduce concerns about safety. I hope people will come along to our exhibition to see the proposals in more detail and give us their views.”
