Plant a tree for park’s birthday
From Press Office on 17 March 2010
Solihull Council is looking for residents to help plant 25 Black Poplar trees in Kingfisher Country Park, as part of the park’s 25 year celebrations.
Individuals or groups are being given the chance to plant one of the trees along the River Cole in Kingfisher Country Park to celebrate 25 years of successful partnership working between Solihull Council and Birmingham City Council.
The native Black Poplar is now a rare tree in Britain. It grows successfully on wetlands and river banks, so the Kingfisher Country Park provides an ideal site for this species.
Cathy Savage, a long time member of the Friends of Kingfisher Country Park said: "I'm really pleased to be involved with the planting as this is a really exciting scheme and will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.”
