New interactive website for businesses and job seekers
From Cabinet Member of Economic Development and Regeneration, Councillor Ian Courts on 17 March 2010
Solihull’s businesses and job seekers are being given a helping hand with an exciting new website from Solihull Council, www.solihullforsuccess.com. The website, which goes live on 1 April, has been designed to provide user-friendly information and interactive tools for businesses and job seekers.
From the homepage users can choose between the options looking for work, looking to relocate business, looking for business support or looking for tenders, with each pathway providing tailored resources, tools and information for the user.
For businesses the website provides a unique networking and promotional tool, the ‘Business Directory’. This works like any search engine, providing access to business information, such as websites, addresses and phone numbers, as well as allowing businesses to contact each other in a social networking forum similar to Linkedin.
Alongside this tool, local businesses or those thinking of relocating will be able to access newsfeeds, business advice, tender opportunities, as well as being able to signup for Solihull Council’s business events, and use the property directory, a database which contains details of a wide variety of commercial premises for lease, rent or sale in the borough.
For job seekers the website offers plenty of advice and information, such as how to complete an application form and tips for interviews. Job seekers will also be able to build their can build their own CVs online, which businesses will be able to view. In the coming months job opportunities will be advertised on the website and job seekers will be able to apply for these directly from the website.
Cabinet Member of Economic Development and Regeneration, Councillor Ian Courts said: “This is a major new initiative for Solihull Council. This state of the art website provides useful information and advice, alongside special tools such as the Business Directory, which allows for social networking between businesses. These are exciting facilities which we believe will be very popular with users and successful at bringing together businesses with each other and jobseekers.”
