Celebrating 450 years with a willow arch for Malvern Park
From Press office on 19 March 2010
Students from Solihull Junior School made their mark on Malvern Park recently as part of their ongoing 450th birthday celebrations.
Members of the school’s Eco-Club spent an afternoon planting a willow arch entrance to the park’s new play area, as well as painting out graffiti on nearby fencing.
The green-fingered pupils were helped by Solihull Council’s Environmental Champions – conservation volunteers who regularly help on a variety of projects around the borough.
This project may also prove to be a starting point for more work between the Champions and the School in the future.
Julie Brown, Leader of Solihull School’s Eco-Club, said: “Our members are extremely enthusiastic about helping the environment and had a great time working on such useful local projects. We are already discussing how we can work with Solihull Council’s Environmental Champions again.”
