Champion Effort for Britain in Bloom
From Press Office on 16 July 2010
Volunteers from ITV Central last week joined forces with Solihull Council’s Environment Champions to help spruce up Kingsgate House ahead of the regional and national judging for Britain in Bloom.
The block of flats, owned by Solihull Community Housing, is part of the borough’s Britain in Bloom route and, with the help of the two groups, it is now ready for the regional and national judging.
The green-fingered ITV volunteers cut back and weeded the gardens surrounding the flats and also painted two sets of benches and some log roll fencing.
They also planted £100 worth of shrubs - which had been purchased by Solihull in Bloom using money raised by traffic island sponsorship - to put a smile on the faces of residents and hopefully the Bloom judges.
After their hard work at Kingsgate House, the ITV volunteers signed up as Champions and agreed to help on an annual basis.
