Environment Champions Target Tudor Grange Park

From Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Tim Hodgson on 22 July 2010

The Environment Champions were in action again recently, this time helping to get Tudor Grange Park ready for Britain in Bloom.

The volunteers braved the wind and rain to get the popular park ready for the regional judging on Thursday 22 July.

During the tough four hours the volunteers managed to paint the wooden bike stands, clear graffiti off the metal signs, paint the barrier gates by the cycle path and litter pick along the beech hedge.

Among the volunteers were a group from the Kingshurst Training Centre who have been helping the Champions on a variety of projects for the past five weeks.

One of the Kingshurst volunteers, Chris McDonough, said: “We have enjoyed working on this project and hope it can get spread across the borough to encourage others to do the same.”

The Champions finished the work in the afternoon and capped off yet another successful project, leaving Tudor Grange Park in a good state, ready for both residents and the Britain in Bloom judges to enjoy.

Councillor Tim Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I would like to thank the Environment Champions, and everyone else involved in the borough’s Britain in Bloom bid, for all their hard work. Let’s hope it pays off!”
