Mayor gets ready to tee off

From Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ian Courts on 03 August 2010

Tickets for The Mayor of Solihull’s charity par 3 golf challenge and dinner are now on sale.

The ‘Alternative’ Ryder Cup in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and The Prostate Cancer Charity, supported by the Rotary Clubs of Meriden, Knowle, Dorridge and Solihull, takes place on Thursday 30 September at the spectacular Nailcote Hall Hotel, Berkswell.

All levels of golfer are invited to play on the championship course, which will be followed by a delicious three course evening meal.

The day will include two shotgun starts at 12pm and 3pm as well as a short game clinic, for anyone who needs to brush up on their skills before they join the battle to become Solihull’s ‘Alternative’ Ryder Cup Champion.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ian Courts said: “Solihull is no different from any other UK town.  Cancer diagnoses are regular and touch many members of our community.  I am very keen to continue getting across the message that prevention is better than the need for cure. This event will help raise awareness of this disease and money for two very worthwhile charities.

“I look forward to seeing many people at the event and making this one of the local fundraising highlights of the year.”

Tickets cost £140 for a team of four players and dinner, £37.50 for 18 holes of golf and evening dinner or £20.00 for just dinner.

Anyone unable to attend, but would like to support the event, is strongly encouraged to get in touch and sponsor a hole or a course of the meal.
