Robin Hood Cemetery and Crematorium Open Day

From Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr Graham Craig on 06 August 2010

Solihull Council’s Robin Hood Cemetery and Crematorium is holding an Open Day on Saturday 21 August, 10am-4pm, in celebration of its new Garden of Tranquillity.

The new garden will be officially opened at 12.30pm by Solihull’s Mayor, Cllr Ian Courts.

As well as the opening of the garden, the Open Day is a chance to take a look behind the scenes and talk to staff at the crematorium and cemetery. Visitors can also see motorbike and horse-drawn hearses and discover points of interest around the cemetery. Local Funeral Directors, an eco-friendly coffin manufacturer and florists and will be on hand to talk to visitors about their services.

The new Garden of Tranquillity has been landscaped with pathways and pergolas, seasonal planting and opportunities for memorials to a loved one. Rose beds can be dedicated or plaques will be available on a granite memorial book, bird bath or seating.

Visitors will also be able to find out about the high quality, good value funeral and bereavement services the Council provides at this and other cemeteries in the borough.

Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr Graham Craig said, “Its well worth finding out about all this before you need it and the new Garden of Tranquillity really is a beautiful place to come and remember loved ones.”
