From Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Hedley on 19 August 2010

Young people around the borough will be celebrating after receiving another excellent set of A Level results, once again exceeding the national average.

Provisional results released today, Thursday 19 August, show that the overall pass rate for pupils gaining grades A-E this year is 98.7% (compared to 98.1% last year). This is above the national average of 97.6%.

AS Level students also have cause for celebration after achieving a pass rate of 92.1% - 2.3% increase on last year’s performance.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Hedley said: “I would like to congratulate all the young people in the borough.  This success is a real tribute to the students’ and teachers’ hard work and the support and guidance of parents.  Well done everyone, you should all be extremely pleased, and once again the borough’s students have made us extremely proud with their high levels of achievement.”
