Mother fined for daughter’s school absences

A mother has been found guilty of not ensuring her child regularly attends school.
The case was heard in the mother’s absence at Solihull Magistrates Court on Thursday 26 August.
The court heard that the 15 year old girl had attended 70 out of a possible 104 sessions between 19 April 2010 and 7 July 2010. All of the 34 absences were unauthorised.
The mother has been ordered to pay a £350 fine, a £15 victim surcharge and costs of £120.
