Petrol retailers praised for accuracy of equipment
From Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities on 30 June 2011
With the current economical climate, every drop of petrol counts and the accuracy of fuel pumps is paramount – and drivers in Solihull will be pleased to know they are getting exactly what they pay for.
A recent survey by Solihull Council’s Trading Standards team found the borough to have very accurate pumps, meaning motorists are getting value for their money and only paying for the quantity they are receiving.
Trading Standards officers inspected a number of filling stations throughout Solihull. A total of 150 petrol pumps were tested and none delivered less than the indicated quantity.
Minor issues were found with a small amount of the pumps but these have now been addressed.
Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, Said:
“The current high fuel prices make the accuracy of petrol pumps especially important. I would like to thank all petrol stations in Solihull, we can now be confident that motorists are getting the full quantity of fuel they are paying for.”
