Local people asked to register interest in local jobs
From Councillor Ian Courts, Cabinet Member for Economic Development on 13 June 2012
Solihull residents are being given the opportunity to register their interest in a variety of construction jobs becoming available this year at three drop-in sessions being held by Solihull Council.
The jobs on construction sites include those at the Shirley Parkgate scheme; NEC Resorts World; the new Bishop Wilson Church of England School in Chelmsley Wood; and the overall North Solihull Regeneration Programme.
The drop-in sessions are being held on:
Wednesday 20 June, 10am-1pm at The Bridge, 234 Stratford Road, Shirley
Friday 22 June, 10am-1pm at Chelmsley Wood Library, West Mall, Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre
Wednesday 27 June, 11.30am-2.30pm at Solihull Jobs Fair, Mell Square, Solihull Town Centre
The Mell Square Jobs Fair will also include employers from the hospitality, social care and financial sector.
The events are restricted to residents of Solihull with a postcode: B90-94, B36, B37, CV5 and CV7.
Councillor Ian Courts, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said: “There are some great opportunities here for local people to register their interest in a range of local jobs. This council is committed to its ongoing regeneration schemes, both in the north of the borough with the construction of the village centres and new schools, and further south in Shirley with the upcoming Parkgate scheme. With our regeneration schemes comes employment, first in the construction industry, and later on in the shops and businesses that are the end product of the building schemes. These drop–in events will be invaluable for local jobseekers in pointing them in the direction of employment and I hope local people seize the opportunities on offer.”
