Insulate your home for free – and save £250 a year
From Press office on 31 July 2012
Solihull Council is helping residents save more than £250 a year in wasted fuel – and protect the environment – with free cavity wall and loft insulation.
The Council has joined forces with the Act on Energy Advice Centre to help homeowners and private renters combat climate change and reduce the amount of energy wasted each year through poorly insulated homes.
The offer of free insulation has been inspired by a national, government-led directive that requires energy suppliers to invest a portion of their profits into energy saving measures, to help reduce CO2 emissions.
Councillor Ian Courts, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “With fuel prices continuing to rise, it is becoming even more important to save money on gas and electricity bills – and this free offer could help do just that. As well saving hundreds of pounds a year, properly insulating your home can help cut down the harmful CO2 emissions responsible for climate change. There is an awful lot to gain from this free offer – why not see how much it could save you?”
To take advantage of this offer, contact the Act on Energy Advice Centre on 0800 988 2881 quoting ‘Solihull free insulation offer’, or email advice@actonenergy.org.uk.
The free offer is dependent of current insulation levels and a survey being carried out.
