SCH welcomes top Solihull cop
From Press office on 17 August 2012
Solihull Borough Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner has recently paid a visit to Solihull Community Housing (SCH) for discussions on tackling antisocial behaviour.
Developing their expertise through the resolution of cases of anti-social behaviour from their tenants, SCH’s anti-social behaviour team were so successful that they were commissioned by Solihull Council to deal with ASB wherever it occurs in the borough – whether it is caused by an SCH tenant, a private renter or a home owner.
The most effective results have been produced when SCH and local police have worked together; sharing information about perpetrators. Recently, ‘Operation Tandem’ (so-called because of the partnership between SCH and the police) has resulted in arrests, evictions and drugs raids.
SCH’s head of neighbourhood services, Ann Bennett, said, ‘We were delighted to welcome Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner here so we could showcase the work we are doing and emphasise the important role that our partnership with the police has to play. We want the message to go out that tackling drugs and other forms of antisocial behaviour is at the top of our agenda.’
‘Offenders will not only be dealt with as criminals by the police, but as a landlord, we will take action against tenancies if perpetrators are our tenants, seeking to evict those who break the rules in the tenancy agreement.’
Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner, said, ‘Antisocial behaviour has a corrosive impact on victims and whole communities. We take it very seriously and we find that our partnerships with organisations like SCH are a much more effective way of tackling and preventing it.’
