Solihull Council is to seek new contract arrangements to deliver its leisure services.
The current contract which covers Tudor Grange and North Solihull leisure centres is between the Council and Rivendell Leisure Ltd who in turn subcontract the management of the centres to Parkwood Community Leisure through a complex contractual arrangement formed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP). Whilst the Council remains happy with the services being provided, it is this contract structure that the Council is seeking to change in order to achieve maximum financial value for the local authority moving forwards.
To meet the requirements of local government procurement legislation, the Council is required to tender the newly structured arrangement. It is anticipated that Parkwood Community Leisure will bid along with other specialist leisure management operators for the new contract. A tender process will start in the summer with a view to an operator being selected by the end of the year to take on the new management contract for the centres from April 2018.
In the meantime current services will continue as normal and leisure centre users will not be affected.
