Solihull residents who are considering building work or repairs to their home are being reminded that they can find a reputable trader through the No Rogue Traders Here (NRTH) service.
Solihull Council’s Trading Standards Team has worked in partnership with NRTH for a number of years - a network of businesses who are rigorously vetted to ensure that they provide a good service at a fair price.
To take advantage of this service, simply register at www.noroguetradershere.com or phone on 0800 233 5000.
Before hiring a trader residents should:
- Be aware that if you agree to work at your home a trader must first give you a 14 day cancellation period in writing. If you want the work started within this time you should also agree in writing.
- Get three written quotes from different traders and ask for references.
- Get an invoice or receipt which sets out exactly what the work includes, what the price is and when the payments are due. Any paperwork should include the trading name and address of the business.
