Unauthorised encampments

Solihull Council is advising residents that the unauthorised encampment recently located on Dengate Drive, Balsall Common has been moved on.

A thorough clean-up is being taken on site and security measures are being put in place to help prevent any future incursions.

Update 3pm, Thursday 17 May

Solihull Council is advising residents that the unauthorised encampment recently located on Babbs Mill Park, Kingshurst has been moved on.

A thorough clean-up is being taken on site and an assessment is underway with regards to how the site can be secured against any future incursions.

In addition, the Council has assisted Castle Bromwich Parish Council to move a group on from land on Bradford Road. The police have used their powers under Section 61 to remove them. The Parish Council is reviewing security on the site and arranging for the area to be cleaned.

The Council is aware of an unauthorised encampment on Dengate Drive, Balsall Common and is working closely with the police to undertake the necessary legal actions to move them on as quickly as possible.

To support the evidence gathering it is very important that as many local residents as possible report any anti-social or criminal behaviour to the police by calling 101. This helps build a picture of the situation for the court to consider when a case is presented to them.

Update 4.30pm, Tuesday 15 May

Solihull Council is advising residents that the unauthorised encampment recently located at Heath Park, Chelmsley Wood has been moved on.

A thorough clean-up continues to take place on site and an assessment is underway with regards to how the site can be secured against any future incursions.

The Council is aware of an unauthorised encampment on Babbs Mill Park, Kingshurst and is working closely with the police to undertake the necessary legal actions to move them on as quickly as possible.

In addition, the Council has assisted Castle Bromwich Parish Council to move a group on from land on Bradford Road. It is also continuing to provide support to Smith’s Wood Parish Council where an unauthorised encampment is on land on Windward Way.
