Bloomin' lovely wildflowers

Publish date:Friday, July 6, 2018

Solihull has become a haven of colour in recent weeks as parks and open spaces have bloomed with wildflowers.

They can be seen on the mounds which were built across the borough last year, as part of the Council’s work to help prevent unauthorised encampments.

Councillor Alison Rolf, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities & Partnerships, said: “It is great to see these wildflowers in bloom and I hope residents enjoy the beautiful displays that are now visible in many parts of Solihull.

“While developing our strategy to deal with unauthorised encampments it was important to make sure we installed additional security measures while retaining the pleasing aesthetics and the ‘Urbs in Rure’ elements that these areas offer.

“These wildflower sites are a great example of meeting this aim and I would like to thank officers for their hard work in maintaining our great parks and open spaces.”

The wildflowers can be seen at Dorridge Park, Knowle Park, Bentley Heath Recreation Ground, Brueton Park, Hillfield Park, Elmdon Park, Damson Park, Streetsbrook Road, Rothwell Drive, Palmers Rough, Shirley Park and Swallows Meadow.
