Avian Influenza

On 18 January 2018 DEFRA declared an England-wide Avian Influenza Prevention Zone.

This means that all keepers of poultry and other captive birds in England must comply with the minimum biosecurity measure found in the Declaration. There are additional biosecurity measures for keepers of birds which have access to outdoor areas and for those keepers with 500 or more birds. For more details please click here.

If you find dead wild waterbirds (swans, geese or ducks) or other dead wild birds such as gulls or birds of prey, you should report them to the DEFRA helpline on 03459 33 55 77.
