3 December marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The annual event aims to provide an understanding of disability issues and promote support for people with disabilities across the world.
In recognition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, AccessAble will be providing a drop-in service at The Core from 10am-3pm on Thursday 7 December.
The drop-in will give people the opportunity to meet the AccessAble team and learn more about their work, including what they have done to provide information about accessibility of venues in Solihull.
AccessAble, which works in partnership with Solihull Council, is an organisation that provides information about the accessibility of different venues and public buildings via their website. Their work helps people to remain more independent and make informed choices before they visit venues such as restaurants, shops, and other places across the borough.
Cllr Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health said:
“International Day of Persons with Disabilities provides an important focus on people with disabilities and the challenges they may experience. I hope residents will take the opportunity to use the AccessAble website and help us to improve services for people with disabilities, and how to make our borough a more inclusive place. This is a great example of the council’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and supporting people with disabilities in Solihull.”
