A Foul Situation
From Cllr David Bell, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Environment on 06 November 2007
Solihull Council is to step up its patrols of parks and open spaces in the borough to remind dog walkers that they must clear up after their pet.
The Council has recently had a lot of complaints from people using parks across the borough about dog fouling and will be reminding dog walkers that is an offence to allow their pet to foul and not pick up after it.
Offenders can be issued with a fixed penalty notice for £50 if caught and failure to pay may result in a court appearance.
Councillor David Bell, Cabinet Member for Community Services and the Environment said: “We know that the majority of dog owners are responsible and make sure that they clear up after their dog. But it is the minority that don’t who spoil our parks and open spaces for visitors, and it is them that we would like to remind about their responsibilities.”
People can report confidentially dog walkers who they think are breaking the law by calling the Council on 0121 704 8000 or 0121 704 8472.
