Greenhouse Gas Emission

To the right, under attachments, is Solihull Council’s Greenhouse Gas Emission for the years 2009/10 and 2010/11.  These are presented as tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted.

The collection of the data is part of the council’s Carbon Management programme, and also contributes to the councils obligation under the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Publication of the data is voluntary, but has been requested by DECC and will be collated by the government department to publish a table later in 2011 showing all the emissions from local authorities who have chosen to report the data.

As part of ‘Carbon Management’ the Council is challenging its teams to report on emissions and to propose initiatives and projects to reduce carbon.
