Grounds maintenance - landscaping
We undertake routine cutting of grass in urban areas together with hedge pruning and shrub, seasonal flower and rose bed maintenance.
Grass areas which are the responsibility of the Council are cut on a regular basis. Continued bad weather can delay cutting and extended dry weather may make cutting unnecessary.
Solihull is a profusion of colour throughout the year with magnificent displays of daffodils in the spring due to an annual bulb planting programme each autumn. The seasonal bedding displays found in our parks, town centre and villages, are all maintained to a very high standard, along with the 750 hanging baskets put up around the Borough each summer. Seasonal displays are changed every May and October.
We have a commitment to sustainable planting and the majority of our plants are now supplied in peat free compost. Solihull is proud of its traditional carpet bed in Malvern Park looked after by skilled gardeners and each year welcomes charities to put forward designs. Shrub beds in the Borough are tended during the winter months when pruning will be carried out and bark mulch applied where appropriate to control weeds and conserve water.
Our programme of hedgerow cutting commences in July each year so as not to disturb nesting birds. Although there are only a few rose gardens in Solihull these are well cared for, receiving a light prune in autumn and further pruning in spring to ensure good quality roses.
