There are a wide range of activities, which can be pursued in the Park, including pitch and putt, and a range of events through out the summer months.
Picture of Shirley Park
The Park was originally home to farmland, which was bought up in 1927. More recently, additional features were introduced which include an ornamental garden and formal walkways.
Near by: Palmers Rough Local Nature Reserve
Location: Access on foot via Olton Road and Rothwell Drive, via car from Jacey Road and Northbrook Road
Palmers Rough covers an area of 6.5 hectares and consists of two blocks of woodland separated and partly surrounded by areas of open spaces. A wide range of plants and animals makes Palmers Rough an interesting place and was therefore granted Local Nature Reserve status in 2000. The presence of Palmers Rough within the Doomsday Book, suggests that the woodland dates back over 900 years.
A walk through the woods is especially rewarding in spring when the bluebells produces a vivid carpet of colour. It is also possible to view wildfowl as the pond is used on a frequent basis by our feathered friends.
