The Standard Planning Application Form (1APP)
The Council has recently adopted the 'Standard Planning Application Form (1App)' for all planning applications.
An application made after 5th April 2008 and before 6th May 2008, otherwise than by a local planning authority or an interested planning authority, may-
- be made in writing on a form provided by the Solihull MBC instead of on the 1APP form as published by the Secretary of State;
- be accompanied by a certificate for the purposes of article 7 in the appropriate form prescribed in Part 2 of Schedule 2 to the 1995 Order instead of the 1App form published by the Secretary of State.
From the 6th May 2008, 1App will become the only legal method of applying for planning permission. Planning applications made on or after this date using non-1App forms will be treated as an invalid application.
You can find the forms online by visiting the Planning Portal where you can complete and submit them as part of an online planning application. You can also download a print only version of the form.
To coincide with the nationwide launch of 1App, The Department for Communities and Local Government will also launch the Local Validation Criteria. Further details of the Solihull Local Validation Criteria and the recent consultation can be viewed online. Once approved by the council, full guidance on the Solihull Local Validation Criteria will be made available via this website. There will also be a change to planning application fees. More details are available on our Planning Applications page.
From the 6th April 2008 you will need to submit one original and three copies of the application form and documents (known as 4x sets). The council may need to consult other organisations on certain types of application. This may require the council to request further sets of plans and other documents for the purpose of processing the application in an efficient manner.
For applications submitted via the Planning Portal you must submit one electronic version of the application(1x set). If there are any doubts regarding the scale of plans, the council will request a hardcopy to be submitted for quality checking. It is strongly recommended that a scale bar and metric measurements are included with online applications!
For all applications please read Making an Application and Planning Fees in conjunction with the form(s).
